Whitby Folk Week is a folk festival celebrating of British traditional song, dance, music and storytelling, which takes place every August in the picturesque fishing town of Whitby on the North Yorkshire Coast.
During Folk Week there are daily dance displays around the town, as well as parades on the first Saturday and final Friday of the festival week.
Whitby is renowned for its wide variety of workshops, many of which are a progressive series through the week, for example Singing in Harmony, Playford for All, and Festival Orchestra. There are many opportunities to learn new styles of dance, or take up an instrument, as well as sessions aimed at experienced dancers and musicians.
With so many wonderful artists to choose from there is a full programme of daily concerts, talks, interviews and presentations, as well as ceilidhs and dances every evening in the spacious Whitby Pavillion.
Our annual Music and Craft Fair is open daily throughout the week with a wide variety of musical instruments, crafts, and, of course, festival merchandise.

Dates: Whitby Folk Week always takes place during the week leading up to the weekend containing the end of August bank holiday Monday.
